Income inequality is high in Malaysia relative to other East Asian countries, and the COVID-19 pandemic had a major economic impact on the country, particularly on vulnerable households. 5.6% of Malaysian households are living in absolute poverty as defined by their government.
Humanity First USA supports people in Malaysia
HFUSA took the lead to operate five schools for refugee children in 2020. Nearly 500 children from South and Southeast Asia attend our primary schools for their education each year. We partner with Humanity First Malaysia, Germany, and Canada to support these schools that opened in 2016.
