The devastating wildfires in Los Angeles that began on January 7, 2025, have left an indelible mark on the region. Strong winds and dry conditions have fueled the rapid spread of the fires resulting in the loss of at least 24 lives. Over 150,000 residents have been forced to evacuate, with entire neighborhoods reduced to ashes. The fires have consumed tens of thousands of acres, destroyed more than 12,000 buildings, and caused power outages impacting 64,000 people. The toll on human lives and the economy is staggering, with damage projected to exceed $150 billion.
Humanity First USA is stepping in to provide meaningful support to those most affected by the disaster.
Free Legal Aid for Wildfire Victims
Humanity First USA is offering free legal support to help victims navigate the complexities of recovery. These consultations address critical needs, helping people to understand legal rights after fire damage, and navigate insurance-related claims or tax filings.
📅 January 15–16, 2025 our team was stationed at the NAACP Pasadena Branch. Consultations were walk-in and completely free.

Compassionate Service
Humanity First USA volunteers, including dedicated lawyers Amjad, Saadia, Qasim, Saif, and others, set up an outdoor legal aid booth at the NAACP Pasadena Branch. The team completed consultations for wildfire victims from Altadena and Pasadena.
The stories we heard were heart-wrenching:
Elderly homeowners, like B., in shock after losing homes and treasured belongings.
An artist, L., grieving the loss of her artwork and livelihood.
J., a carpet shop owner, desperate to restart his business to support his community.

One woman described her consultation as the best conversation she’d had all week, likening it to therapy. Despite the despair, these moments of connection reminded us of the resilience and gratitude of those we served.
