Haiti Earthquake
In January of 2010, this 7.0 earthquake hit the capital of Port-au-Prince, causing significant damage to infrastructure and causing one million people to become homeless.
Our Impact
Humanity First USA stepped in right away to fulfill basic needs for food, water, and shelter. We distributed over 3,300 family water filtration kits, provided hot meals and food rations to over 8,000 people, and offered temporary shelter to 200 families while also supporting 700 orphans across five orphanages.
HF also provided critical medical care through 28 mobile medical camps and by establishing a permanent clinic, treating over 27,000 people. And after immediate needs had been met, Humanity First helped in the long term by establishing two medical clinics, a community health workers program, and an orphan relief program, helping thousands in the year after the disaster.
