Pakistan Earthquake
On October 8, 2005, the Kashmir earthquake, registering 7.6 on the Richter scale, devastated the Pakistan area of Kashmir, Azad Jammu, causing massive landslides, killing at least 79,000 people, and rendering over three million homeless.
Our Impact
Humanity First USA volunteers served more than 356,000 meals, distributed 520 tons of relief supplies, and provided tents and other temporary housing to 39,000 people. In addition, Humanity First provided urgently-needed medical care to at least 75,000 survivors and also were instrumental in establishing a neurosurgical unit at a hospital in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Jammu Kashmir.
